Is there a way to filter for finished lots that are sitting vacant in a specific area?
Yes — the closest tool for this is SearchAI's "Only Show Bare Lots" filter, available in Step 3. Here's how to approach it:
Step 1: Define your search area by drawing a polygon around the specific community or geography you want to search within.
Step 2: Select the development type that fits your use case (e.g., Subdivision or Single-Family Detached).
Step 3: Check "Only Show Bare Lots" to filter out parcels with known structures on them. You can also add lot size filters to further narrow results to finished lot dimensions.
Optionally, add a Zone Code filter if you know the zoning for the community you're searching in.
A Few Things to Know
The Bare Lots filter works well but isn't perfect. Prophetic determines whether a lot is vacant based on building data from county records and other sources — and in some cases that data is incomplete. When we don't have building information for a parcel, we default to treating it as vacant, which can occasionally result in false positives (parcels with structures showing up in results).
The filter also may miss a small number of genuinely vacant lots due to minor data discrepancies between sources. Using satellite imagery alongside your search results is a good way to visually verify what's on the ground.
